GROUP TO HEADLINE FIRST-EVER KEEP-A-BREAST TOUR –PRODUCED BY HOUSE OF BLUES ENTERTAINMENT–
NATIONWIDE TREK KICKS OFF OCTOBER 8 IN PHILADELPHIA AND WRAPS NOVEMBER 6 IN PORTLAND
After performing sold-out shows this spring and summer across the U.S., the critically acclaimed, electro-pop duo UH HUH HER–LEISHA HAILEY (keyboards, bass) and CAMILA GREY (keyboards, guitar)–are gearing up for the release of NOCTURNES, their forthcoming full-length album, due out October 11 on Plaid Records (Tunecore/Topspin). Starting today, fans can pre-order NOCTURNES on the UH HUH HER Topspin store: http://uhhuhher.spinshop.com/.
Throughout October–the official, National Breast Cancer Prevention Month–and beyond, UH HUH HER will headline the first-ever Keep A Breast music tour which supports breast cancer prevention and awareness. The trek–produced by House of Blues Entertainment–kicks off October 8 in Philadelphia, PA and wraps up November 6 in Portland, OR.
“I became a part of Keep A Breast since like so many others I’ve been directly affected by breast cancer in my family,” explains CAMILA. “Luckily, both my grandmothers are breast cancer survivors. Awareness and education are so important in treating this disease since if it’s detected early enough, chances of survival are greatly increased. I’m happy to be a part of something that will reach young and old alike, and what better way than through music.”

Produced by CAMILA and Wendy Melvoin (Prince & the Revolution, Wendy & Lisa) NOCTURNES is the follow-up to their debut album Common Reaction and was recorded at Wendy’s personal studio inside the famed Henson Studios compound in Los Angeles. The track “Debris” was produced by CAMILA and guitarist Brad Ackley. The resulting 11-song mix perfectly melds moody dance pop with guitar and synth-driven electro. It’s a musical blend that prompted the LA Weekly to describe it as “…a combination of against-the-grain grit and pop ambition that live, delivers a little snarl and a lot of swoon.” (Chris Martins, 4/1/11) Mixed by Tchad Blake and Chris Galland and mastered by Adam Ayan at Gateway, album highlights include the anthemic, synthesizer-driven songs “Another Case,” “Wake To Sleep,” and “Human Nature” as well as “Same High,” written for and featured in the Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film The Kids Are All Right.
UH HUH HER discuss the creation of NOCTURNES as independent artists:
The NOCTURNES album follows UHH’s EP Black and Blue which debuted this spring to critical praise. Jim Allen of Big Shot noted of the 6-song EP, “…the duo digs into electro beats, moody, atmospheric electronic textures, and more” (March, 2011). The Black and Blue EP followed the group’s debut album Common Reaction which broke through with the anthemic single “Not A Love Song.” The album went on to receive an overwhelming amount of critical praise, with the New York Times hailing the disc “…a lush, layered collection of dizzying, synth-driven pop” (Amanda Petrusich, 10/24/08), with the Village Voice adding: “Uh Huh Her’s debut album is a stylized mix of guitars and synthesizers framed by melancholic yet glamour-tinged vocals” (Zoe Gemelli, October 29-November 4). Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Times noted that “The band’s debut album, is an electro-pop feast characterized by layers of overlapping vocals” (David Greenwald, 5/29/08). Rolling Stone coined them a “Sultry, indie-electro duo…” (Caryn Ganz, 10/23/08) and Spin added, “[Uh Huh Her] create a lush soundscape of lilting piano arrangements, percolating electronic threads, and sparkling vocals a la Metric and the now-defunct Organ.” (Samantha Promisloff, 7/27/08)
