It's
pretty incredible what Pennywise has gone through their
13 years as one of punk's best. Not even in death could
this band break up, for that alone they are kings. Before
this show I wasn't much of a fan, I've seen these guys
two times before at Warped tour but couldn't really get
into them. While festivals are a good way for bands to
promote themselves, it's hard to get a true feel for their
live show with the mix of fans and reduced set lists.
But this night belonged to Pennywise and only Pennywise.
Their entire set was extremely good coming from someone
that isn't into punk that much, these guys just know how
to fuck up a venue. After all the years they've been in
the industry they are just has passionate and involved
as day one, you can really get a true of sense of their
love for the music. What also added to the show were Pennywise's
amazing fans. They go absolutely berserk, the entire floor
of the State was just a giant mosh pit and the ones up
front were jumping the entire time. It seems that it's
more the punk bands that have a great loyalty from their
fans more so than the metal bands that I see. My favorite
song of their entire set was the cover of the Ramone's
Blitzkreig Rock.
Go check these guys out when they make a stop in your
city; they are one of the better punk bands around considering
all the bullshit that's out there right now. These guys
are a nice breathe of fresh air from all the stank shit
in mainstream. I'm really happy to see a band like this
continue their careers as musicians for such a long time,
and I hope it continues down the road. |
