| What
can you say about these veterans of the modern punk scene.
They put on one of the best shows. Great lighting, great
sound and the crowd was jumping all night long. This tour
allowed them to play a full hour plus set along with a
couple encores. While the majority of the songs were off
of their latest album, The Art of Drowning, they still
played a decent amount of songs off their older albums.
Having seen them the past few times at the Warped Tour,
I'm glad to have finally seen them in a true venue with
all the real fans. While big festivals are a good way
get exposure, it really doesn't give the fans a true sense
of what the band is like. And this is totally true of
AFI. After tours and tours of being the opening act, they
are now starting to kick off headlining tours and they
deserve every bit of success that comes along. They might
not ever break into mainstream music (which isn't a bad
thing at all), they will still remain one of the kings
of punk. If you enjoy any type of punk music, try and
catch them during one of their headlining tours. It's
really the only way to see them perform. |
